The Sydney Essential Oil company was established in 1997 and was originally located in Sydney Australia. SEOC rapidly grew into an internationally respected business and today holds the well-earned reputation as a leading supplier and specialist in certified organic and high quality pure essential oils and natural products.
The staff work collaboratively and are a highly committed team of industry professionals who share a genuine passion for essential oils, quality and integrity. They are known for their friendly approach to doing business, commitment to reliability and for their subject matter expertise with respect to the supply of quality ingredients. The core ethical values upon which the foundations of the Company were built still guide the business today. This ethical approach to operations means that products are acquired and sold with honesty and integrity. The overriding objective is to offer our customers:
ABP acquired SEOC in October 2014. For the first few years the business continued operations at its St Peters site in NSW. Then, in December 2017, SEOC relocated to join its parent company at their Victorian site in Hallam.
The SEOC team has now happily settled in Hallam, and we are excited to share this update with you: our loyal customers.
The move has been very beneficial. The larger site in Hallam has provided SEOC staff with additional resources and capabilities to support the ongoing growth and overall requirements of their customers.
In 2019 SEOC was fully integrated into the ABP business and this has allowed for greater purchasing capabilities, bulk buying power, cost savings being passed on to customers, higher quality control standards and a raft of other benefits that continue to support the business and SEOC’s most valuable asset – it’s incredibly loyal customers.
In May of 2021 Ixom Operations (Ixom), finalised the acquisition of Australian Botanical Products (ABP), the market leader in supply of essential oils in Australia and New Zealand, with a growing presence in Asia.
Expanding on Ixom’s established Keith Harris fragrance & flavour manufacturing and Bronson & Jacobs distribution businesses, this acquisition will strengthen and grow Ixom’s specialised product portfolio, as well as local fragrance manufacturing capabilities, to open expanded customer markets through a combination of ABP’s technical capabilities and their extensive portfolio of products and customers.
Ixom Managing Director and CEO David Head stated of the acquisition, “This significant acquisition by Ixom builds on our growth strategy of expanding the Life Sciences portfolio of high quality and value-added products.”

Our No. 1 selection criteria for a product to be included in the SEOC range is transparency. We demand this of our suppliers, just as you demand this of us as your supplier. All, except a small handful of items, are of guaranteed natural origin and over 40% of our key product lines are certified organic. We can back up our label claims with substantiated supply-chain evidence and our quality management systems enable us to provide complete traceability for every batch and every Sydney Essential Oil Co. ingredient.
We also understand the importance of knowing the origins, extraction methods, technical data and regulatory information on your ingredients.
Our suppliers are the backbone of our business. The exclusive distribution agreements we now have in place with many of our key suppliers means we are able to share more great stories from around the globe about them and their products. Our customers large and small, have one thing in common, they all love essential oils.
